#Autos #Honda – Honda Latest Update: Automaker Achieves 100 Million Vehicle Production Milestone : When Honda began manufacturing vehicles in 1963, it started with a model called T360 mini-truck. This was followed by a sports car with a price tag of $500. A few years later, the automaker started manufacturing other models. Fast forward to the present and the Japanese automaker achieves its 100 million vehicle production milestone.
How Honda Did It
The 100 million vehicle production milestone is not a feat that is easily achieved without a clear vision and objective. The automaker was able to expand its production of vehicles throughout the different parts of the world through an approach it refers to as “building products close to the customer” and doing it in within a specific time period. At present, Honda has 34 automobile plants in 18 different countries worldwide as reported.
Honda Could Not Have Done It Alone
Without the patronage of its loyal customers and everyone from the company itself, the 100 million vehicle production milestone would not have been a feat it was able to accomplish. “Thanks to the support from our customers around the world, Honda was able to deliver 100 million automobiles. The passion of our company founder who wanted to help people in their daily lives and pursue the joy of driving has been inherited by Honda associates as the original starting point of Honda automobile manufacturing. Striving to meet the next 100 million customers, Honda will continue delivering increasingly attractive products,” said Tkahir Hachigo, President, Chief Executive Officer and Representative Director of Honda Motor Co. Ltd. in a report.
A Long Way To Go
While achieving the 100 million vehicle production milestone is an impressive feat, Honda still has a long way to go. The Japanese automaker is still trailing behind other big automakers like Ford Motor Co. It was mentioned that in 2012, the American automaker has achieved its 350 million vehicle production. Clearly, Honda has some catching up to do but in the meantime, it can enjoy the pride of being one of the few automakers to be able to achieve a 100 million vehicle production milestone.
